Google has decided to block Pinduoduo’s official app on the playstore due to security concerns. The tech-giant has also started notifying Android users to uninstall these Chinese apps from their devices.
Google has recently flagged several apps made by a popular Chinese e-commerce giant, Pinduoduo, as malware.
The apps contained malware designed to monitor users and exploit several zero-day vulnerabilities. Google has suspended Pinduoduo’s official app on the Play Store for security concerns while they continue their investigation.
Additionally, Google Play Protect has been set to block users from installing these malicious apps and warn those who have them already installed to uninstall them. It’s important to note that Google Play is not available in China, and these apps were present in the custom app stores of phone manufacturers Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, and Xiaomi. Pinduoduo has not yet commented on the issue. Stay safe, and make sure to only download apps from trusted sources!
