Google Will Be Coming With New Gmail Design And Features
Facebook has rolled a new feature that will help you to stay away from triggers that you don’t like. You can snooze a keyword from your News Feed that you are not interested in. For instance, you can temporarily hide post with keyword terrorism, and any feed related to that keyword won’t bother you anymore for 30 days.
“Located in a post’s upper right-hand menu in News Feed, the feature gives people the option to temporarily hide posts by keywords, which are pulled directly from text in that post, “ Shruthi Muraleedharan, News Feed Product Manager, Facebook, explained in a blog post. “If you choose to “snooze” a keyword, you won’t see posts in your News Feed containing that exact word or phrase from any person, Page or Group for 30 days. In other words, fewer spoilers.”
The feature can be accessed by tapping the ‘three dots’ icon at the top-right of any post in the News Feed, and you will find a new option as ‘Snooze keywords in this post.’ Other notable features include See First, Hide, Unfollow, and Snooze.
“Even though we work to show you the most relevant posts on News Feed, we don’t always get it right. That’s why we’ve designed features like See First, Hide, Unfollow, Snooze, and now, Keyword Snooze. We hope that with additional options to help tailor your News Feed experience, you’ll be able to spend more time focusing on the things that matter.”
The snooze feature was first spotted by Chris Messina and reported by TechCrunch.
The snooze option is in testing phase now and is available to only a few users. Sadly, Facebook might have goofed up by not offering a un-snooze option for a keyword once you’ve set it. This means if you snooze a keyword for 30 days, by will or by mistake, you will have to wait for next 30 days to see any post or feed related to that keyword.
As reported by The Next Web, Facebook is working on options for different snooze options, as well as an off button. Though Facebook didn’t reveal if the feature will be rolled out for all the users but we expect it to come alive by the next few weeks.
Earlier, Facebook released a similar ‘Snooze’ option to mute your friends, groups or Pages that you no longer wanted to appear in the news feed for 30 days.
